About Me
My name is Mary Margaret Freeland, and I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. I graduated from Mountain Brook High School in 2019. I am an only child and have grown up very close to my family and friends from school. I grew up going to Fairhope, AL to see my grandparents, going to the lake to see my cousins, and traveling to North Carolina, Wisconsin, England, and Spain to see my extended family. Because of this, I love to travel and have gathered many experiences; I have been to 21 U.S. states, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, and Australia.
I chose to major in finance as I have always enjoyed those concepts, especially anything math related. Outside of school, I enjoy researching luxury fashion brands and collections released during fashion week. I also like to read, take spin and walk with friends, and paint. In high school, I spent most of my time intensely training in Russian style-based (v.s. the American George Balanchine way) ballet, requiring great discipline and time management.
In May of 2022, I studied International Marketing in Barcelona, while also communicating and navigating in Spanish. Once back in the U.S., I served as the Financial Services Intern with Meld Financial, located in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, while also holding a part-time position as a sales associate at Little Lavender Consignment. During the summer of 2023, I interned with StoneX Group Inc. as an Investment Analyst Assistant in Birmingham, Alabama. Most recently, I interned as a Customer and Operations Financial Services Advisory Intern with KPMG US in Atlanta, Georgia. I worked specifically on the Consulting side within the Banking team and sub-category Payments.
My senior year at The University of Alabama, I studied risk management and insurance, value investing, the math behind investments and derivatives, the banking industry, financial analysis necessary for investments, money and capital markets, corporate financial reporting. In 2023, I earned my BBA with a major in Finance, a minor in International Business, and two concentrations: Value Investing and Banking and Financial Services. I am now in my second year at Auburn University getting my MBA and Master’s of Science in Finance. During my first year, I studied supply chain operations, financial and cost analysis, marketing, strategy, and predictive modeling and analytics all while continuously networking. This current semester, I will continue learning about multinational finance and value investing in addition to business ethics and management consulting. I look forward to my final year and applying my knowledge.
