Idea Generation Report on Salesforce, Inc. - Completed in October 2022, this one page paper served as a way for students to research a company and its stock that sparked an initial interest. Acting as a generic investor with basic level knowledge, one must try and determine whether the chosen company’s stock would be a good “buy” given current and historic conditions.
Investment Research Project on Hasbro, Inc. (A Toy and Gaming Conglomerate) - Completed in December 2022, this report served as a way for students to show what they have learned over the semester on how to effectively research and analyze the value of a company. In some aspects, this work was very similar to the case studies written in my GBA 490 capstone course. Unlike those paper however, this report also touched on the company’s financial statements, profitability, and valuation, all requiring the use of relevant metrics and multiples. Students were also asked to include information on the company’s direct competitor, which in this case would be Mattel, Inc.
Peloton Interactive Inc. Situation Assessment and Novice Level Field Research - Completed in February of 2023, this project allowed students to continue learning about value investing on an advanced level. Many analysts conduct interviews with industry experts, ranging from customers to former executives, to gather hard-to-find information that would influence one’s expectations of a business. Students were assigned one of three companies currently facing some financial difficulties. They were asked to profile the company and then conduct an interview that coincided with their beliefs about the company’s future performance.
Financial Model on Chipotle Inc. - Completed in March of 2023, this excel outlines Chipotle’s historical income statements and relevant balance sheet and statement of cash flow line items from the past five years. I prepared multiple measures of operating efficiency from this, effectively creating common size statement. Upon researching the company more in depth, specifically future expectations and stock price movements, I predicted the financial movements of the company for 2023 - 2025. This, in turn, allowed me to effectively value the company. At the time, I recommended the stock a BUY with supporting price targets provided.
Investment Case Pitch on The Charles Schwab Corporation - For the class’s final project, that effectively put together the material we have learned all year, we were divided into groups to present on a company of our choosing. We had to determine whether the company’s stock was undervalued or not through extensive research and make a recommendation. Below is the financial analysis excel file I set up for our group to use as supporting evidence, the presentation presented to Goldman Sachs and Barclay's analysts in class, and the paper highlighting our significant findings.
